Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, Rottach-Egern, Germany

MESSERSCHMITT Systems and the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt already have a long-standing cooperation, which the customer hoped to continue by modernizing its access control systems. Customized and digital solutions are used for this purpose in all hotel areas.

About the hotel

The Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt is part of the Althoff COLLECTION – individual 5-star hotels in exclusive destinations that offer excellent culinary delights as well as exceptional beauty and spa services at the highest level. Directly on the shore of the picturesque Tegernsee, only a 45-minute drive from Munich, this luxury resort offers its international guests the ultimate in comfort in 176 stylish rooms and suites.

Task

This luxury hotel has been using access control solutions from MESSERSCHMITT Systems since 2004. The customer also wanted the durable products and reliable service of the Nuremberg-based company for modernizing its systems. The plan was to replace the old system for all 180 bedrooms, 90 back-of-house areas and 53 other areas including the sauna and spa area. The new solutions were to be seamlessly integrated into the existing building infrastructure and technology.

The mission statement of the house – architecture, art and design & outstanding service – is also reflected in the new MESSERSCHMITT system and we are very happy with that.

Martin Rose, Technical Manager at Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt

Solution

The MESSERSCHMITT offline and online systems adapted to the current requirements were installed in November 2021. Access by keycard was expanded to include the option of a mobile key, which gives guests convenient access to their rooms via smartphone. The Digital Guest Experience is rounded off by a digital guest folder: as an environmentally-friendly alternative to conventional printed documents, up-to-date hotel information can always be accessed on the guest’s own mobile device.

To consistently match the hotel’s corporate design, MESSERSCHMITT Systems configures and customizes all hardware and finishes at the customer’s request. Thus, the “Magic Eye Invisible” design lever handles are complemented by HAFI fittings in the colors chocolate brown for the room doors and graphite gray in the spa area. Back-of-house “Classic” readers also feature a restrained, modern anthracite finish. The “Magic Glass” wall reader made of elegant gray-brown glass is manufactured in special sizes and equipped with many functions including an RFID reader and a bell. LED buttons for “Do not disturb” (DND) and “Make up room” (MUR) light up as required to ensure privacy and a comfortable stay for guests.

It was and is a huge pleasure for me to be a part of this long-standing collaboration, or, to quote Mao Tse-tung: ‘Even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’.

Detlef Borowski, Area Manager South at MESSERSCHMITT Systems
